Description: Commonly known as "dong quai" or "female ginseng" Angelica is a large hairy, biennial plant with ferny leaves and umbels of white flowers. It can grow 5 to 8 feet tallnd flowering time is June to August. Crystallized a young stalks of the south European umbelliferous herb Angelica archangelica (A. officinalis). They are bright green in colour, and are used to decorate and flavour confectionery. The roots are used together with juniper berries to flavour gin, and the seeds are used in vermouth and Chartreuse. Essential oils are distilled from the roots, stem, and leaves. The root of A. sinensis is dong quai, a traditional Chinese medicine.
